Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2019 with a theme of “Science for the people and the people for science”. The day is observed as a mark to remember the novel discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir C.V. Raman on February 28, 1928. The National Science Day is celebrated to promote active involvement of Students and teachers in Science related activities.
On this occasion, the Department conducted three activities, Science Exhibition (an exhibition of Science Models and Posters), Technical Quiz Competition, and guest lecture by eminent personality in the field of Science and technology. Dr.Rup Narayan, Professor & Head, Department of Botany, CCS University Meerut delivered a motivational lecture on “Leadership traits in science and technology” to address global challenges.
The Department conducted Quiz Competition based on Science in two rounds. B. Tech. 1st year students participated in Written Quiz Round-1 conducted on February 23, 2019. Students were selected on the basis of their scores in the Written Quiz for Final Buzzer Round organized on February 28, 2019. Six teams were formed with four students in each team. Eventually one team was selected as a Winner and the other team was selected for runner up prize after elimination round. All teams were awarded with a certificate of participation and a Trophy was given to both the Winner team and the Runner- up team.
The Department organized Science exhibition of Science Models and Posters prepared by B. Tech. 1st year students of the Institute. 30 Science Models and 35 Posters were presented by students on various scientific themes. Best three models and best three posters were selected and awarded by distinguished judges. The convener of the event, Dr. S.K.Arya, Head of Applied Sciences and Humanities , Coordinator B. Tech. 1st proposed the Vote of Thanks of the event.
