Expert Talk on “Environmental Concerns and Industrial Control Strategies” by Dr. C. L. Verma

Department of Civil Engineering organized an Expert Lecture by Dr. C.L.Verma for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year B.Tech. students on 2nd April for ‘Environmental Concerns and Industrial Control Strategies’.

Dr. C.L .Verma graduated and post graduated from IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay, in 1967 and 1969, respectively. He was awarded Ph.D degree from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee), in 1986. He possesses teaching and research experience of more than 35 years till his retirement from the Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee in October, 2004. Post retirement, Dr. C.L .Verma has been associated with 3 Engineering Institutes as Director and one Institute as Prof. & Head of Chemical as well as Civil Engineering Departments. Dr. Verma has published over 100 research and technical papers, and has a host of National and International awards to his credit. Dr. Verma has been continuing as Chairman of the National Committee on ‘Building Lime and Gypsum Products’ for the last 25 years.

Dr. C.L. Verma gave an overview of the rising environmental concerns, including different types of pollutions in the environment. He highlighted various precautionary measures against effects of pollution and various industrial control strategies that have been recently adopted to mitigate the effects of pollutants.

The lecture was found to be very informative and meaningful by the faculty members and the students.
